How to tell a real Apple charger from a copy

Most chargers sold as “original” in Pakistan are high grade copies. This is the checklist we run on every unit. Hold your own charger against it.

Genuine unit
  • Text on the housingLaser-etched and slightly grey, sharp at the edges even under camera zoom.
  • WeightA 20W adapter sits around 60g. It feels dense for its size.
  • PinsSmooth nickel finish, no tooling marks, perfectly even gap.
  • Cable jacketUniform matte white, no seam, springs back after bending.
  • Charging behaviourThe phone reads fast charge and holds a steady 20W.
  • HeatWarm at most after thirty minutes of charging.
Copy sold as original
  • Text on the housingPrinted white ink, fuzzy edges, scratches off with a fingernail.
  • WeightNoticeably light, usually under 40g. Feels hollow.
  • PinsDull or over-shiny chrome, visible mould lines, slightly uneven.
  • Cable jacketA faint seam runs the length of it, and it yellows within weeks.
  • Charging behaviourStarts fast then drops, or never shows fast charge at all.
  • HeatHot to hold after fifteen minutes. This is the one that damages batteries.

We sell both new and pre-loved units. Pre-loved means box-pulled the item came out of a genuine Apple retail box that was sold separately. It is original either way, and every listing states which one you are buying before you add it to the cart.
